Advanced Anesthesia Life Support

Perioperative resuscitation education
for anesthesia professionals.
The AALS course focuses on physiology, reversible causes, and anesthesia-specific decision making beyond standard ACLS.

ACLS wasn't built for the OR

You know ACLS. But the OR is different.

Standard ACLS

  • Unwitnessed arrest
  • Limited monitoring
  • Unknown cause

Reality in the OR

  • Always witnessed
  • IV access + etCO2 in place
  • Reversible causes
And we're still teaching the same algorithm.

What the AALS Course Covers:

  • Anesthesia-specific resuscitation considerations
  • 20 learning modules
  • Interactive learning activities
  • Perioperative scenarios
  • Life support beyond standard algorithms
  • Certificate of course completion
  • Recognition and management of perioperative cardiac arrest

HOW AALS DIFFERS FROM ACLS IN ANESTHESIA

An anesthesia-specific approach to perioperative resuscitation

AALS differs from standard ACLS by focusing on the physiologic drivers of perioperative collapse rather than generalized cardiac arrest algorithms, with an emphasis on clinical decision making required before, during, and after perioperative cardiac arrest. It addresses gaps left by one-size-fits-all resuscitation education by emphasizing context, pattern recognition, and anesthesia-specific clinical reasoning.
